Abstract

Political parties are defined as political organizations formed by individuals acting together for a common interest and struggling for political power. Based on the ideology and common interest they adopt, these organizations offer policies towards political, social, and economic spheres. These policies, which provide a route to understand political parties, reveal the identity of political parties in a sense. Different classifications are also used in the examination and understanding of the parties. Party typologies are one of these main classifications. In this context, this study primarily presents a typological classification of Turkish political parties. After classifying the major political parties in the parliament, it analyzes these parties through economic policies. In the last stage, it investigates whether there is a link between the typological classification mentioned and economic policies. In the study, which party documents taken from the parliament archive are used in, political parties are re-evaluated through their economic policies. Differences and similarities that arise in economic policies are addressed with party typologies.
